"Making the Shifts" by Sandra Alberti

As schools and teachers begin to implement the Common Core State Standards, Sandra Alberti cautions against moving ahead without first understanding the changes that the CCSS require. Alberti outlines three shifts in English language arts and three shifts in mathematics. These shifts, Alberi explains, will have the most significant effects on students and, therefore, should guide all aspects of CCSS implementation, including professional development, assessment design, and curriculum.
